Group A- Corona positive case (imported case)
This is stage 1 of transmission ,these people have history of travel to affected country or region where virus is in circulation.
Group B -Contacts of group A ( these group of people are traceable)
This is called local transmission or second stage of epidemic where virus spread in known contacts of case.
Group C-Unknown contacts of group B
(Very very difficult to trace)
If infection spread in these people this is also local transmission or early stage of community spread.
Group D- No known contact with any group of A/B/C.
this group is truly lockdown population with no history of travel or contacts with any case.
If infection is found in this group it is called community spread
Or third stage of epidemic.
When people of group C start becoming corona positive it is called early community spread.
Most difficult is finding the C group
Which is unknown contacts of group B and indirect contact of group A.
And D group is totally safe and at home in lock down.
According to health ministry of india
It will be called community spread when 20%-30% of total case are from the population who have no clue from where they got the infection..
As described in above example..
If 20-30 percent of total case are belongs to group C and D then it will called community spread..
Other small number of case are sporadic case who are hiding their travel or contact history. They are not true community spread case.
Once large number of people in group C and group D become infected then it is called stage 4 of epidemic.
Purpose of lockdown is to save this largest group of people that is D and some how group C.
Querentine is done to all people of group B to stop the spread of infection.
